Living Purgatory

By Patricia Crespin
Directed by Michael Goldfried

Five Latina Icons – including Frida Kahlo, Lupe Valez and the mythical ghost La Llarona – are stuck in Purgatory for being failed mothers. When a meth-head gringa abandons her baby in the desert, she too joins their limbo, and the women catapult into 21st Century New Mexico.

“Michael Goldfried is a remarkable young director… He’s an artist who always isolates the most eloquent detail, finds ways for making the thematic material clear without clobbering it, and of course, possesses the usual skills (I don’t know why I say that, since practically nobody has them!): staging, characterization, work with designers and text.”
Craig Lucas, author of “Prelude to a Kiss” and “Reckless”
