Excited to be at my first TCG National Conference – and proud to be attending featured as as a participant in the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors.

The panel I’m a part of has the rollicking title:

You Call THAT Theatre? Reconsidering the Relationships Between Audience, Artists and Theaters

This lively discussion examines the re-emergence of immersive “event” plays in the American theatre. What innovative forms of storytelling and audience engagement are part of this movement? How can this kind of theatre be supported by current models for play developing, producing and performing – and what new models are emerging? What if we broke all the established rules of our theatre’s space and audience expectations? What if we brought in new audiences, kindled relationships with new artists, allowed opportunities for leadership to younger staff and encouraged cross-silo collaboration? Come join us as we discuss best practices and encourage new ideas on what “theatre” can be.

Have you seen Sleep No More in NYC? If you can: Go!

Having just explored elements of immersive theater directing a workshop of “The Indelible Mark on Edward Barron” and this past winter in “Mrs Smith Presents…”, I’m excited to to exchange ideas on how environmental theater can fuse with more traditional narrative forms to make great theater.
